Major producing states: Rajasthan (46%), Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Punjab. The Shekhawati region of Rajasthan (Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu) is India's mustard heartland.

Price patterns: Mustard is a Rabi crop (sown October, harvested March–April). Prices typically fall at harvest (April) and rise by September–October. Mustard MSP 2024-25: ₹5,650/quintal. Edible oil import duties and global rapeseed/canola prices are key external drivers.
