About Groundnut (Moongfali/Peanut) — India's Most Traded Oilseed
India is the world's second-largest groundnut producer (6–7 million tonnes, shelled) and a leading exporter of groundnut oil, groundnut meal, and confectionery peanuts. Groundnut is a Kharif crop (June–October) and also grown as Rabi in Tamil Nadu and AP.
Major producing states: Gujarat (40%), Rajasthan (20%), Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. Junagadh and Rajkot in Gujarat are India's largest groundnut trading centres.
